LAUNCH OF THE SECOND DAY OF THE HECSOs SUMMER SCHOOL

5th June 2024

If we think about the concept of “community engagement”, in which European perspective does it fit?

And what is the role of universities and civil society organisations in responding to contemporary challenges through new methodologies, practices and experiences for the involvement of communities in decision-making processes?

These are some of the questions that opened the second day of the HECSOs Summer School, and that were explored in depth by the interventions of Francesca Lipari, Assistant Professor at the Department of Statistics and Quantitative Economics at the Complutense University of Madrid and Nikitas Kastis, founder of the consulting company Mind2Innovate, Greece.

An interactive workshop, led in the afternoon by Katharina Kirsch-Soriano da Silva and Lisa Plattner, Neighbourhood and Community Work of Caritas Viennateam, involved the students in reflecting on their own experiences of community engagement by deepening intercultural perspectives, social practices and inclusive methods.

We also welcomed the staff of Caritas Armenia to join the group of this Summer School students for this intensive week of lectures and study visits!
